Tom Furey raised in Bucks County, Pa. was born in Scranton,Pa.. He graduated from Bishop Egan High School (Fairless Hills, Pa.), studied at Bucks County Community College Fine Arts Department, and then at the Maryland institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. Tom returned to Bristol, Pa. and opened, the Mill Street Studio, a cooperative studio in 1975 with two other painters John Ennis and Neil McIlvaine both from Bristol. The Studio was a meeting place and work space for many local artist from 1975 to 1998. Tom's first works were realistic painterly in style. From the mid 70's to the mid 80's he exhibited his work in local Galleries and enter local and New York City competitions. In the early 70's Tom took a position at a local steelmill and worked there for the next 26 years, while raising his four children.
